Call for O-Bon Lantern Booth Volunteers

Do you love arts and crafts? Do you enjoy spreading messages of hope and peace and encouraging others? The Como O-Bon Festival will be on Sunday, August 20th, from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, and the St. Paul - Nagasaki Sister Cities is looking for volunteers to staff our lantern-making booth. Volunteer duties include cashiering, partial assembly of lanterns, and either set-up or clean-up. Creative skill is not necessary, only interest and enthusiasm.

Volunteers will receive free entry to the entire O-Bon event, as well as accumulating volunteer hours with SPNSCC.

Volunteers are needed in two shifts:
2:30pm to 5:30pm, which includes set-up, and
5:30pm to 8:30pm, which includes clean-up

The SPNSCC lantern booth will be near the Butterfly Parking lot, across from the event stage and our cherry trees.

Guests may launch their lanterns on the Lily Pond throughout the day, and the community lantern launch will be at 8:00pm on the Frog Pond.

More information about the event can be found here:

If you are interested in volunteering, please email JoAnn Blatchley at jab.spnscc@gmail.com.
